Thomas Smith

Thomas is a General Counsel and Chief Compliance Office at Commonwealth LNG. Prior to this role, he spent nearly 20 years as a lawyer focusing on transactions and disputes across the all parts of the energy value chain including LNG, wholesale trading and retail sales, litigation and arbitration and project development. He served as General Counsel of Direct Energy and joined NRG through the Direct Energy acquisition in 2021. He also held the role of Deputy General Counsel at BG Group plc, a UK-based oil, gas and LNG company that was acquired by Shell in 2016. He started his career as a lawyer with the law firm of Vinson & Elkins LLP in Houston.
